You can now upgrade your ZEQ25 mount, which uses servo motors, to the CEM25 stepper motor package. We have developed technology to deliver all of the benefits of stepper motors (reliability, accuracy, quietness) without the high power consumption associated with stepper motors.
The 2 options are listed below. The difference is that Option 1 includes replacement worm gears, option 2 uses the current worms.
Option 1 Upgrade to stepper motors and new control electronics, using replacement worm gears, with low PE worm (~ ±10 arcsec) in RA.
Upgrade kit cost is $610 (final cost is $450 after $160 refund when all the old parts, in working condition, returned to iOptron).
Option 2 Upgrade to stepper motors and new control electronics, using your current worm gears.
Upgrade kit cost is $470 (final cost is $310 after $160 refund when all the old parts, in working condition, returned to iOptron).
We recommend sending the mount in for upgrade unless you are good at DIY and following the procedure precisely. It might cause worm damage if encountered gear slip during the upgrade. The labor cost is $50 for Option 1 (with new worms.), or $100 for Option 2 (with original worms.)
Customer is responsible for all other cost.
