Two exciting new Alt-Az strain wave mounts, HAZ31 and HAZ46, are added into iOptron strain wave gear mount family!

This light weight, compact, medium payload HAZ46 mount will deliver an astronomy experience like never before. With a mount head weighing in at 12.3 lbs, HAZ46 has a payload capability 44 lbs, without needing a cumbersome counterweight or shaft. HAZ mounts will support a large variety of instruments that flexibility is needed for outreach programs and satellite tracking. The multi position saddle (can be placed on top or to the side) uniquely sets up the HAZ46 to accommodate binoculars. Just turn the mount on, it will calibrate itself and GoTo the first target utilizing our time tested "Lever and Go" technology.

Utilizing state of the art strain wave gear technology for both RA and DEC movement, the HAZ46 deliver unparalleled weight to payload efficiency. Its black anodized all metal CNC machined body is not only appealing to the eye, it’s a rugged platform that will perform at the highest level for many years to come. Unique features such as an electronic friction brake on both AZI and ALT allows the mount safely stop.

An HAZ46 mount can be controlled by a computer, either via ASCOM/Commander for a Windows PC or a third party INDI driver for a MacOS software; a SmartPhone/Tablet via iOptron Commander Lite or an App like SkySafari; or a Raspberry Pi device via INDI driver.

4 of 5 Good but could use some improvements October 2, 2023
Reviewer: Matt M from CA, United States
After one week, frst impressions.

Pros:
-Tracking is excellent.
-Slewing is quick & quiet.
-No need to worry about the scope moving while I swap eyepieces.
-Love the internal battery.

Cons:
-GoTo is not as accurate as the AZMP. Yes! the mount was level.
-Stock saddle is wimpy! It was ok for holding my DZ, but the saddle was too wimpy to hold my TEC140. And the TEC only weighs 24lbs. Not even close to the 44lb capacity. The stock saddle is only 4.5 inches long and the top clamp is only about 1 inch wide. Try holding a 38-inch-long scope steady with four fingers on the bottom and a thumb on top. It’s not pretty. I swapped the stock saddle for a larger ADM and that did the trick. Big improvement!
-Where does one place the HC? I had to put Velcro on the side of the mount.
-HC screen could be larger

Overall, the HAZ46 is capable after replacing the stock saddle. I hope I can figure out how to make the GoTos more accurate.
