If you do not have an iOptron mount and a hand controller, or you want to use other method to perform polar alignment using the AccuAlignTM polar scope, you may use one of the following methods: (1) iPhone App for iOptron polar scope available here https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ioptron-polar-scope/id564078961?mt=8 (2) Android app for iOptron polar alignment https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lunari.polarfinderpro (3) Download and install a window based program: http://www.polarfinder.com/windows.html (4) Download and install a Mac/windows based program: https://takahashi-europe.com/support/softwares/polarisfinder/polarisfinder-1.5-en.htm (When mapping the Polaris position from the 24 hrs dial to iOptron polar scope, you need to divide it by 2. i.e. the reading on the dial is 10 o’clock, then you should put the Polaris in your polar scope at 5 o’clock). (5) Download and print the following table/chart to bring with you to the field if you don’t what to carry any electronics, as stated: http://www.covingtoninnovations.com/michael/blog/1302/index.html (6) The last approach is just putting the Polaris at the center. It may be good enough for a few minutes exposure depends on the lens you are using. If you are located in the Southern Hemisphere, Sigma Octantis will be chosen for Polar Alignment. |
