5 of 5 iPolar May 1, 2024
Reviewer: Bob
I have an HEM15 with a built-in iPolar.  I also have a QHY Polemaster.  The Polemaster does not do plate solving.  It uses the RA rotation method.  I found the alignment procedure for the iOptron to be very quick and easy compare to the Polemaster.  I am using a laptop, so I can't comment on phone apps.  I would like to see an upgraded connector.  The mini-B is close to obsolete.

On another note (to iOptron), we know most phones and Ipads have USB ports.  Maybe a modified windows software using a USB cable direct?

1 of 5 Its 2024, Still no good software March 24, 2024
Reviewer: RKumar from sunnyvale, CA United States
I brought it back in 2020, For 3 years they have been saying they are making software for Mac, iOS, and Android. But all we have is bugging Mac software which keeps crashing and stops working with every update. For Windows, we have to invest another minimum 400$.

To all future users, please stay away from this stupid and expensive hardware, it is of no use without software. Till their sale take a hit, they are not going to improve.

4 of 5 Needs polar alignment app for Android October 16, 2023
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from United States
Please make an Android app that is the functional equivalent of the Windows alignment software allowing USB OTG connection. There is an existing Android app called USB Camera (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.shenyaocn.android.usbcamera) that is able to connect to and control iPolar via USB OTG as a web cam.

2 of 5 ioptron erratic quality on mounts and ipolar scope September 19, 2023
Reviewer: albert poncedeleon from carbondale, IL United States
I have three ioptron mounts. All suffer from one problem or another. High error in tracking, more than stated in their website. Ipotron polar copes fail to make contact with the cable and the female connector in the polar scope gets loose and fails to make contact. They do not have support for these ipolars and nothing for the bad PEC of the mounts. Expensive and mediocre quality.

1 of 5 Cem26 w/ ipolar December 31, 2021
Reviewer: Oriol Quirant Banus from Vilamaniscle, Girona Spain
Do you spend $ 1400 on a mount with Ipolar, or $ 2XX and you have to pay $ 10 more for the App in the Mac App Store? Seriously Ioptron? Is this all the support you offer to your clients?
What a shame.
And you don't have an App for Android / IOS?
Then you go on saying that you have the latest technology.
The next HandControl will be a caveman stick.

1 of 5 Disappointed November 21, 2021
Reviewer: Nicholas Kefalas from Milford, CT United States
I had read so many good things about this, but i was utterly disappointed. The alignment was always off. And not by a little. By a lot. I could senter better with my scope. I am using a CGEMII mount.
I ended up sending it back and invested in a ASIAIR PRO. I now use the ASI120mm on my guids cope and use the polar align routine in the ASIAIR (which is not so user friendly either !). That does not giveRealtime adjustment images. It samples with images it takes every 1 to 2 seconds, which is VERY annoying, but at least i am  aligned. Maybe something was wrong with my unit ? who knows.

1 of 5 iPolar on Mac M1 October 1, 2021
Reviewer: David J Kreiton from Ocala, FL United States
Prior to the M1 chip, the Mac iPolar app ($10 on the Mac App Store!) worked fairly well except for annoying green flashes while polar aligning. With the M1 chip and Mac OS Big Sur v11.6 when double clicking on the app I get the message "Cannot use iOptron iPolar". If you Show Package Contents and double click on the app in the MacOS folder it will connect, but there is constant screen flashing making polar alignment difficult, at best.
Why would I buy an iE5100, which apparently has a MacOS driver and software, when iOptron can not make the iPolar work flawlessly?

5 of 5 Great But Needs Mobile Device Support!!! June 24, 2021
Reviewer: Joe Geiger from Clinton, MA United States
I have iPolar in my SGP and it makes setup a snap. The onscreen display guides you to get perfect polar alignment in only a few minutes. I use my SGP as a portable imaging platform along with my 80mm refractor. It would be much more portable if I didn’t have to lug around a PC laptop. I talked to someone at iOptron who said a wifi adapter was in the works that would allow iPolar to be controlled from mobile devices but after a year still no such product.

4 of 5 Finally accurate polar alignment April 20, 2021
Reviewer: bradls_pix from BORONIA, VIC Australia
Living in the southern hemisphere I've really struggled with accurate polar alignment especially using longer focal lengths with my skytracker pro. Recently got the ipolar and this has become much easier. It would be great if ioptron had an android app to connect smartphone to the ipolar for alignment as I'm not about to cart my laptop with me everywhere, that's why it gets 4 stars and not 5 from me.
