Introducing the most versatile inline auto focuser: the iOptron iAFSTM focuser with iLockTM technology! Utilizing a lead worm movement is the key to the iAFS focusers patented design; this method passively locks it at the exact position when movement is stopped, maintaining focus for most any sized payload even as the instrument angle is changed. The iAFS incorporates three movement control modes, USB (computer control), on board directional buttons (for powered manual adjustments) and a manual focus wheel to override the motorized adjustment. Other features include a built-in temperature sensor, dual USB-C ports, solid all metal body, fingerprint resistant surface, 0.6 micron resolution, and position limiters to prevent over runs. It comes standard with a 2 inch visual back, and optional telescope adapters to fit various OTAs are available. The iAFS focusers is available as the iAFS2 two inch model and the iAFS3 three inch version.

4 of 5 Grea in first use, backfocus high + short cables April 9, 2025

An initial review having used it for 2 days including an imaging session:  needed a focus motor for a Cassegrain and as this had an optional M90 connection I decided to try it. Installation was easy mechanically and in software. Simple to set the zero position. Both NINA and Sharpcap linked to it via the ASCOM driver. Operation is smooth. So why not 5*? Well the supplied USB cabling is silly. Two USBA to C cables are provided. One is around 23cm long! The other is about 98cm and with my long scope it did not reach to my power box on my pier for all slew directions. If you have your power distribution on the scope it should be OK but I need to get a more suitable cable. The other potential issue is backfocus take-up. With the adapter it is about 130mm long to the clamp. This was fine for me  but check you have the room. I had room for a flip mirror and that then had the focuser extended by a few mm. Also great you do not have to fight your way past yet another integrated environment.
